Why food porn is bad for you

The farm manager here at Falling Downs is addicted to these food shows. As a consequence of that medical condition I end up watching a little more of that stuff than I otherwise might.

Some of it is actually quite cool. I love the Drive-ins Diners and Dives guy. Tools around in his vintage Camaro and pops into the kind of places I'd be popping into if I was on the road.

But these fake competition shows...

At this very moment a panel of judges are deciding who did the best job with a wiener.

That's right, that tube-steak we normally call a hot-dog. Invented in 1862 by some Chicago meat-processing capitalist in an attempt to make the offal bucket a profit center.

And it worked!

Here we are 150 years later. Five budding chefs are trying to impress the panel of judges with what they can do with the stuff that comes out of the rendering pail.

One of them gets voted off the show because his wiener-work wasn't up to snuff.

And people watch.

I'm sure there's a conspiracy theory to explain this.

Could the Rothschilds be behind it?
